Project Spotlight: Belvedere Global TIA

In this Project Spotlight, we’re highlighting our work on the Belvedere Global Transportation Impact Assessment (TIA) and the surrounding fast-growing Belvedere Community on the east side of Calgary.

The Belvedere Global TIA gave us the opportunity to conduct a two-stage TIA exercise scoped with the City of Calgary to support various outline plans and pending tentative plans that were being developed within the Belvedere ASP area by the Belvedere Landowners Group. Stage 1: dealt specifically with the end state, full build out of the Belvedere area. Stage 2: dealt with the staging or phasing of the major network improvements required to accommodate an approximate 25% build out of the study area – in particular looking at two major network improvement scenarios identified by the City.

Bunt’s TIA work is the guiding document expected to provide direction for the development of the key transportation infrastructure through functional designs of the various network elements as a subsequent exercise.

In addition to the global TIA, Bunt has undertaken the TIAs for various Outline Plans. This provides the continuity to ensure the recommendations from the Global TIA are brought forth with each development that occurs in the Belvedere Area. More recently, we’ve been retained by the City to work on the South Belvedere Area Structure Plan, a plan that will support more growth and inclusive, complete communities, and transportation networks designed to support this growth.

It has been a pleasure to contribute to this rapidly growing Calgary community and we look forward to seeing things come to life.
