We are a team with transportation and road safety needs at the heart of our work, but our commitment to enhancing communities goes beyond that.

Guided by our purpose to generate positive connections, we actively invest in the communities we serve through philanthropic giving and community engagement. The initiatives we support improve community well-being, advance health and education, promote diversity and inclusion, strengthen Indigenous communities, and encourage sustainable and active transportation.

Community Giving

We recognize the tremendous efforts and impacts that charitable organizations make all year round. In recent years, we have been contributing to improving community well-being, advancing health, and helping to alleviate hunger and poverty through in-kind initiatives and donating to charitable and non-profit organizations such as: Alberta Children’s Hospital, BC Children’s Hospital, Boyle Street Community Services, Canadian Red Cross, Change for Children, Distress Centre, and our local food banks.

Our Bunters also support local communities through volunteer initiatives. From organizing food drives and contributing donations, to participating in holiday hamper programs and serving meals to those in need, our employees are committed to giving back in meaningful, hands-on ways.

Supporting STEM Education

As a team of transportation engineers, planners and technologists, we see firsthand how important STEM education is in shaping young people’s futures. Early exposure to science, engineering, and real-world problem-solving helps today’s youth discover what’s possible and who they can become – particularly by encouraging underrepresented groups, including girls and Indigenous youth, to explore these fields.

Our efforts include supporting like-minded partners, such as Indspire, MindFuel, Science FUNdamentals, and TELUS World of Science – Edmonton (TWOSE). We are especially proud to have our female staff volunteer at events that celebrate and empower future women in STEM. Through these initiatives, we aim to help spark interest in STEM and empower the next generation to pursue careers in engineering.

Award Sponsorship

Bunt is committed to supporting the growth and development of the next generation of transportation professionals through targeted awards, bursaries, and industry partnerships.

We have proudly supported young Canadian transportation professionals through the David Tam Memorial Award with ITE Canada since 2021. In 2026, we expanded this commitment in partnership with the ITE Canada District and the Future Transportation Leaders Fund by establishing the Professional Development Bursary in Honour of David Tam. Sponsored by Bunt, this bursary supports emerging leaders in the transportation sector by funding professional development opportunities that strengthen their skills and leadership potential.

We have also been a proud supporter of the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) Student Awards Program for many years, providing financial award to qualifying Civil Engineering Technology students who demonstrate a strong interest in transportation engineering or highway design. This award recognizes academic achievement, community involvement, and other measures of excellence and support.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) is at the heart of our commitment to strengthening participation and expanding economic opportunity for underrepresented groups. We are committed to fostering a more inclusive and equitable community, both within our organization and through the initiatives we support.

Internally, we strive to build a workplace culture that values diverse perspectives and promotes equal opportunity. Our EDI commitments are embedded in our practices, policies and processes to support a welcoming, empowering and positive workplace for everyone.

Our efforts include financial contributions to organizations such as Canadian Women’s Foundation, Canadian National Institute for the Blind, and Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion, which advance gender equity, accessibility, and inclusive workplaces across Canada.

Caring for our Environment

Corporate sustainability begins with where we choose to locate our offices – in urban core areas well- served by public transit. We also reduce commuting and business travel emissions where possible by providing a hybrid work environment and encouraging virtual meetings. To reduce waste and our ecological footprint, we buy office supplies in bulk, choose recyclable or FSC paper products where possible, use refills, and maintain recycling, reuse, and composting programs across offices.

Sustainability is embedded in all that we do. Our team brings strong expertise in developing active transportation plans that promote sustainable mobility and help reduce carbon emissions. We have collaborated with municipalities, regional districts, and Indigenous communities to deliver integrated solutions that support walking, cycling, and transit. This aligns closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, as we contribute to the development of safe, accessible, and sustainable mobility systems.

Beyond our project work, we also support initiatives that advance sustainable transportation at the community level. This includes our contribution to Green Communities Canada’s Sustainable Mobility Program, which helps communities design safer, happier, and healthier public spaces for children.

Industry Engagement

Bunt actively engages with professional organizations and post-secondary institutions to strengthen industry connections and support the next generation of transportation professionals. We regularly participate in industry nights, career fairs, and lunch & learn sessions, creating opportunities to connect with students, share practical insights, and showcase real-world applications of transportation engineering and planning.

We continue to sponsor and collaborate with industry organizations such as Association of Consulting Engineering Companies – British Columbia, BILD Calgary, BILD Edmonton Metro, the Canadian Institute of Planners, ITE Canada, the Transportation Association of Canada, and the Urban Development Institute. We are proud to have Bunters who contribute their time and expertise by serving on boards and committees within these organizations.
