ITE Northern Alberta Luncheon: City of New Westminster Public Rail Grade Crossing Review

Our Transportation Engineer, Kyle Briggs, P.Eng., PTOE, RSP1, will be presenting on Bunt’s study focused on upgrading public grade crossing and advancing whistling cessation to improve overall road safety in New Westminster, BC.

The City of New Westminster is reviewing their public rail grade crossings to meet the latest Transport Canada Grade Crossing Regulations and Standards and to achieve whistling cessation city-wide. Bunt was retained to support the City’s goal of upgrading public grade crossings in the Queensborough Island neighbourhood. The study area included 14 rail grade crossings with varying levels of warning system protection.

Kyle’s presentation will highlight the study crossings and their unique characteristics, outline the Grade Crossing Safety Assessment process, and share key findings and insights.
