Meet Amrit Uppal

When did you start working at Bunt & Associates?

I started working at Bunt & Associates in 2011 after graduating from the University of British Columbia.

What does your expertise include?

Primarily, urban mixed-use developments and supporting multi-modal community development.

What do you like most about working at Bunt & Associates?

By focusing solely on Transportation planning & engineering, Bunt offers a small company feel while still providing opportunities to work on varying project types.

What projects are your particularly proud of?

I am proud to help support the development of a multi-modal communities including Calgary’s Rivers District and West District.

What stands out for you when it comes to the transportation planning and engineering discipline?

Transportation planning and engineering is heavily dependent on the individual decisions made by people. While variables occur in other disciplines such as differing loads or water usage, these tend to be consistent within a large geographical area and for a particular use. Transportation demand has variables that can differ significantly for the same use dependent on demographics, urban context, network options, and other considerations. Additionally, humans are creatures of habit and tend to maintain the same commute patterns. Therefore, accounting for the impact of new network links is not as simple as splitting flows evenly.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

Being able to reverse time by 10 seconds.
