Project Spotlight: Northeast Athletic Complex

Located adjacent to the community of Saddle Ridge, the Northeast Athletic Complex is envisioned as a sports-centred community hub that will support connection and healthy, active living. The complex will include a competition cricket field, four outdoor multi-use fields, and an indoor fieldhouse.

The Bunt team completed a Transportation Impact Assessment to help determine opening day transportation requirements associated with the development. This work included traffic analysis at nearby intersections, intersection capacity and signal warrant assessments, access reviews, and identifying mitigation measures needed to accommodate projected development traffic. We also reviewed pedestrian, cycling, and transit connectivity, along with vehicle and bicycle parking needs and Transportation Demand Management opportunities.

We’re very excited to see this much-anticipated facility continue to move forward with Council fully funding construction. Once constructed, it’s anticipated to address the increasing demand for recreational amenities in the northeast which has been experiencing significant population growth.

Amrit Uppal, Principal, says: “We have the opportunity to work on community-focused projects across Calgary every day, so it’s incredibly rewarding to witness communities taking shape and coming to life around us. The Northeast Athletic Complex will be one of those projects, and we’re excited to see it continue to progress and eventually become an important community hub”.

We’re proud to contribute to yet another project where the shared goal is building a stronger, more connected community.
