ITE Interior BC/PIBC Webinar: Prioritizing Public Cycling Amenities
Bunt was proud to have Sophie Renard, P.Eng. present at the ITE Interior BC/PIBC April Webinar yesterday. She shared the Bicycle End-of-Trip Facility Priority Index, a tool developed in collaboration with the City of Nanaimo, designed to identify and prioritize locations for public bike parking and end-of-trip (EOT) facilities.
The GIS-based tool utilizes an automated spatial analysis process to score potential bike parking sites across the City. The tool considers a variety of factors relating to accessibility, land use, equity, and social well-being. Users can adjust the weighting of these criteria to reflect local priorities, resulting in a tailored, community-focused approach.
A big thank-you to ITE BC Interior and PIBC for having us. We hope to inspire more cities to adopt innovative tools like this one to support active transportation and help build more connected, equitable communities.
