TMP for Voices in the Park – September 2012

Bunt recently completed a Transportation Management Plan for a 20,000 ticket music festival in Vancouver’s Stanley Park. Bryan Adams, Stevie Nicks, Jann Arden and even Bill Clinton will being joining Sarah McLachlan for the Voices in the Park (www.voicesinthepark.com/transportation) concert. Profits from the event hosted by Sarah McLachlan will go to the Sarah McLachlan School of Music (www.sarahschoolofmusic.com), a non-profit school that offers free music education for children.

The feasibility of the event was contingent on stringent management of few available nearby parking spaces and effective promotion of non-vehicular transportation modes. Transportation is front and centre during all ticket purchases, where patrons must indicate their transportation mode, purchase a parking pass or reserve a spot on one of various shuttle bus routes that link the venue to high frequency transit areas. Vehicle access to the site will be limited to shuttle buses and parking pass holders. A lane on the access route will be converted to a cycling route during the critical egress period. Walking routes will be signed, lit and staffed. After all sitting in a traffic jam is no way to go listen to music in the park.
